FMoPA Institute Master Class

Intent:

This master class, offered exclusively by FMoPA, is designed to efficiently enhance a student’s photography over a period of several weeks by disseminating a complete package of workshops that are adapted to three specialty tracks, according to each person’s preferred genre of photography. In effect, this master class conducted as a one on one mentorship will encompass all the required knowledge needed in fine art applications, as well as in the commercial realm.

Pre-admission:

The FMoPA master class requires an entry qualification by each student to ensure a sound basic knowledge of photographic technology and applications, including basic knowledge of Photoshop or Lightroom. This initial meeting will determine a student’s interest, commitment level, and past experiences with the medium, using a simple portfolio review of existing images and the establishment of future photographic goals.

Tracks:

Within the overall photographic genres, three avenues will be offered: people, places and products. In addition to the base of general photography knowledge common to each of the tracks, specialized workshops will be included to complete a sound knowledge of each specialty.

Master Class Components:

People track: Overall mentorship and liaison for the entire master class includes: finding your creative path, the business of art and photography, social media basics, website building, design and branding, final portfolio review, editorial photography, events and family portraits, and wedding photography basics.

Corporate headshots, boudoir photography, advanced Photoshop and Lightroom, blogging boot camp are electives for this track.

Places track: Overall mentorship and liaison for the entire master class include: finding your creative path, the business of art and photography, social media basics, website building, design and branding, final portfolio review, cityscapes photography, fundamental of travel photography, landscape photography basics, and black and white photography.

Advanced Photoshop and Lightroom, storytelling through photography and the blogging boot camp are electives for this track.

Products track: Overall mentorship and liaison for the entire master class include: finding your creative path, the business of art and photography, social media basics, website building, design and branding, final portfolio review, product photography and studio lighting, and still life in fine art.

 Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of each track, the student will receive a certificate of professional achievement from the FMoPA Institute and will be able to demonstrate a continuing growth in photography.

Process:

Upon approval, each student will be contacted by the overall mentor to establish a timeline for the required classes to be completed within a 3-month period, culminating in a final portfolio review and exposure at FMoPA.
All workshops will be conducted remotely or in person, as needed, and following all applicable health guidelines in place at the time of the workshops.

Costs:

FMoPA members: $1,230, any track
Not yet members: $1,360, any track

Elective classes range from $100 to $120 for members, and $110 to $130 for not yet members.
