Through Their Lens: A Journey of Self-Exploration

The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts (FMoPA) is proud to present Through Their Lens: A Journey of Self-Exploration, a compelling exhibition featuring the work of emerging student photographers from across the Tampa Bay area. On view August 4 through September 20, 2026, the exhibition highlights the creativity, perspective, and personal storytelling of young artists exploring identity, environment, and self-expression through photography.
Drawn from a highly competitive pool of 221 submissions representing 27 schools across Hillsborough, Manatee, and Pinellas counties, the exhibition showcases 25 selected photographs alongside a selection of work by Jacob Ari Kamis. Together, these images form a powerful dialogue between past and present—honoring Jacob’s artistic legacy while amplifying the voices of a new generation.
Through Their Lens invites viewers to consider how photography can serve as a tool for reflection and discovery. Each image offers a unique perspective shaped by the lived experiences of its maker, demonstrating the ability of young artists to engage deeply with the world around them and translate those observations into meaningful visual narratives.
