The Chef’s Special Exhibition: March 2021

Deadline for submission: Monday, February 22, 2021 – 5 pm

For this exhibition, we invite all Tampa Bay Area photographers (you do not have to be a member) to submit portraits of local chefs and restaurant owners.

Considering the current Covid-19 pandemic and the government-mandated restrictions, all local businesses are facing challenges, including keeping their doors open. FMoPA is committed to supporting local restaurants. In a one-of-a-kind collaboration, FMoPA will host an exhibition that showcases the men and women behind the Tampa Bay Area’s most loved eating and drinking establishments.

In this call for entry, we are asking you to create a portrait of chefs and/or restaurant (bar/cafe/diner etc.) owners. Any style is accepted as long as the photograph features the chef or owner. This can be a traditional portrait or a creative conceptual allegory or everything in between, as long as the subject is clearly visible and recognizable.

If you do not personally know a chef or restaurant owner, please contact us and we will put you in contact with a participating restaurant: exhibitions@fmopa.org

You can submit your photograph printed and framed at the museum or digital via our website. The printed photographs will be exhibited in February and March in our community gallery, the digital photographs will be featured at the participating restaurants as well as on our website and social media.

For this exhibition there is no fee, we wish to celebrate both the culinary and the visual arts in our local community: two branches that are not deemed “essential” but nevertheless necessary to get us through the pandemic mentally and emotionally and have both suffered greatly financially.

If you wish to enter more than one image, you will need to fill out separate entry forms. However, these images need to be of different people!

Before you drop off your work at the museum, please fill out the Registration Form below for EACH piece you plan to submit to the benefit sale. Please make sure that your work is framed/matted and ready to hang at the time of drop off.
