David Dürbak has been in the business of the arts since he was 16 years old, starting out in his first career as a jazz pianist, arranger, and composer, performing with many well-known jazz musicians. In the 1980’s, he switched to the visual arts as a commercial advertising photographer, creating award-winning photography and film productions for local, regional, national and international clients. In the 1990’s, he started exploring the fine art realm, experimenting with unique, one-of-a-kind alternative wet-lab photographic processes, with his work being exhibited in galleries ranging from South Florida to the Peoples Republic of China. He is as comfortable with the latest digital technology as he is with the silver gelatin analogue world, utilizing multiple camera formats in his fine art projects from homemade Polaroid pinhole cameras to 8×10 large-format view cameras. David welcomes beginning students as well as advanced students in his classes.
