Making a lumen print references back to the beginnings of camera-less photography when William Fox Talbot created his “photogenic drawings” in the 1930s. Discover the magic of Lumen Printing in this hands-on camera-less photographic process. You will create one-of-a- kind photograms using sheets of unexposed photographic paper and placing objects on top of the paper. You will learn how the colors in Lumen Prints depend on the botanicals, humidity, temperature, duration, and intensity of the sunlight as well as the type of paper used. You are encouraged to bring plants, flowers and any other organic materials you wish to experiment with in the class. While this is a black and white photographic process, prepare to be amazed by the results and color of your creations. This workshop will take place at the University of Tampa’s fully equipped darkroom.
