Photography 101 Express: November 2018

November 11, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

$90 – $100

[E]xpress is a 1/2 day workshop that is a Photography 101 “crash course” providing hands-on instruction on the fundamentals of camera, exposure and composition. Students photograph a variety of subjects in and around the museum, including Landscapes and Architecture. This class is for people of all ages with little or no experience in photography, or for those seeking a refresher on the basics.

You will be instructed on:
– Camera Lens Basics
– Automatic vs Manual Shooting Modes
– Color Temperature (White Balance
– Focus and Depth of Field
– Light and Exposure
– Composition and Content

Prerequisite: There are no prerequisites for this workshop. However, since all camera models have different control layouts, students are expected to know how to find and adjust three exposure settings in their camera; Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO. While a DSLR camera is preferred, any digital camera capable of manual control of Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO will work. Students with cameras that have no way to control these three exposure settings (i.e.: point-and-shoot cameras) will not get the full benefit of the workshop. A tripod is also strongly recommended.

About the Instructors:
Pierre and Cathy Dutertre

Pierre and Cathy Dutertre have been making photographs together for well over ten years as a husband and wife duo, from commercial projects and fine art ventures that reflect their varied individual and complex pasts.

They project their unique psyches with expressive and reflective imagery of the world and their presence within it, seeking answers to metaphysical questionings through a symbiotic creative collaboration.

Their images reflect a constant quest for spiritual, existential and philosophical pondering, a somber search at times for the essence of life and the world around them.

As career artists, Pierre and Cathy are constantly engaged in the many aspects of art, from producing new engaging work on a regular basis, to mentoring and consulting with emerging artists and judging competitions worldwide. They own and manage a fine art photography gallery representing photographic artists from Europe and the US.
