Learn the fundamentals of photography and unlock your creative potential with FMoPA’s comprehensive introductory course. Whether you’re a complete novice or an enthusiast looking to strengthen your foundation, our Photography 101 Class is designed to provide you with essential knowledge and skills to kickstart your photographic journey.

Through a structured curriculum and hands-on learning experiences, you’ll delve into the core principles of photography, from mastering exposure and composition to understanding the functions of your camera. Our experienced instructors will guide you every step of the way, ensuring that you grasp fundamental concepts and techniques effectively.

Educator Biography

Lance Rothstein is a photojournalist with more than 20 years experience and he has worked for numerous publications including The New York Times, the Miami Herald, and the Tampa Tribune. He was also a staff photographer for the Tampa Bay Times for nine years. After six years working as a freelance photographer in Europe, Lance is back in Florida, and specializes in teaching film & darkroom photography locally.

Requirements

  • DSLR camera, mirrorless camera, or cell phone
  • Basic understanding of your camera
