The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts (FMoPA): Photography is central to contemporary life and culture. It captures history, transports us instantly, and broadens our perspective. Through photography, we come as close as possible to seeing through another’s eyes, and that has the power to bridge divides and fuel progress. As one of only a few museums in the nation focused exclusively on the craft, for more than 20 years FMoPA has been dedicated to exhibiting historical and contemporary photographic art by local, national and internationally known photographers as well as providing educational programs that teach visual literacy, communication and photographic artistry to people of all ages. FMoPA aims to be a leading cultural community asset for generations to come with support from our government and community partners, educators, donors and sponsors, cultural collaborators and volunteers.
Immediate Fundraising Need: FMoPA has reached a critical point in its more than 20-year history. As is the case of photography, we must not miss the moment. By January 31, 2023, the FMoPA Board of Directors aim to raise at least $500,000 to help:
● Identify and transition to a new location that will offer greater access and service to our community
● Support continuing operations during that transition, allowing grant-funded programs and signature
educational programs like FMoPA’s ‘Visual Literacy through Photography” platform for
under-resourced kids to continue, expand and thrive.
● Cover accounts payable accrued during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic through which we
continued to inform, educate and engage virtually
● Develop and propel a fresh new vision and strategy to make Tampa Bay’s FMoPA a premiere destination and arts centerpiece for our community
