This 3-hour hands-on Cyanotype workshop will introduce you to how to make these celebrated blue photographs. You will learn the steps to making digital negatives from your digital images. In this workshop, you will get an overview of the process and its history, and move to the darkroom where you will learn to coat watercolor paper, mix the chemicals, expose the prints, judge exposure, and explore several common toning options to alter the color of the blueprint. Bring in your DSLR images, scanned negatives, or iPhone images—anything will work. All paper/chemistry is provided in the $125 flat fee, just bring your files on a jump drive! No previous darkroom experience is necessary. This workshop will take place in the University of Tampa’s fully equipped darkroom.
