Job Description:

The Development & Community Relations Specialist plays a vital role in advancing our museum’s mission by spearheading development initiatives and fostering meaningful connections within our community. As a part-time member of our team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to various aspects of museum development and community engagement.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to museum development, with a focus on enhancing visitor and membership services through timely communication with sponsors, supporters, and members.
  • Establish, develop, and manage internal and external communications, partnerships, and networking related to the exhibitions program, including successful solicitation of sponsors, supporters, and members.
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships and networks with universities and other art organizations to cultivate opportunities for future exhibitions and projects.
  • Assist the grant writer by providing the necessary information to complete grant applications effectively.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications Manager and Director of Museum Operations on marketing strategies, social media engagement, and other initiatives as needed.
  • Contribute to funding applications and maintain accurate records of existing and potential donors.
  • Secure sponsorships and donations to support museum initiatives.
  • Identify relevant community events for the organization to attend and represent us effectively.
  • Initiate and nurture relationships within the community, including representing the organization at various events.
  • Work closely with the Director of Operations and Executive Consultant on community relations, sponsorships, and naming opportunities within our space.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in development, community relations, or related roles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems, preferably Network for Good, is a plus.
  • Passion for photography and the arts is desirable.
