The 2023 International Photography Competition is now in its 12th year, and it has once again showcased the diversity and creativity of contemporary photography. An impressive 2,349 photographs were submitted from 542 photographers and 57 different countries. This year, the winners were first shown in an exhibition featured at the Tampa International Airport from June 19 until August 18, 2023. Due to popular demand, the exhibition will be brought to the FMoPA Community Gallery from October 10, 2023, until October 28, 2023.

The competition was judged by a panel of renowned photographers, including:

  • Jessica Jarl – Director of Global Exhibitions at Fotografiska International.

  • Elena Paraskeva – International Conceptual Photographer, Art Director and official ADOBE instructor. 

  • Kurt Moser – Professional Photographer, Director of Photography, and Documentarian

  • Steven Benson – Curator at the Southeast Museum of Photography & Professional Photographer

  • Martha Asencio-Rhine – Director of Photography Features and Projects at the Tampa Bay Times

  • HeeJung Kim – Curator at DongGang International Photo Festival

  • Sara Canon – Exhibitions Manager & Curator at the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts

  • Hiromi Nakamura – Curator at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography

  • Kristen Roles – Photography Instructor at the University of Tampa & University of South Florida

  • Collier Brown – Photography Critic
