Children learning to
make pinhole cameras
Workshops, seminars, and educational programs presented by the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts provide an opportunity for community members of all ages to enhance their knowledge of photographic arts, techniques, and related subjects.

Children's Class
Help your children
(age range 7-15)broaden their
horizons by
enrolling them in
our
Photocamp. We
offer something for
every budding
photographer! Giving
children a strong
base within the arts
teaches practical
skills,
self-discipline,
confidence,
creativity, critical
thinking, and
provides an outlet
for artistic
expression. They'll
be having so much
fun they won't even
notice all of the
other positive
effects. Plus,
you'll absolutely
adore the
"masterpieces"
they'll bring home
to you from camp.
One or two images
from each child will
be displayed
tentatively in
August.
Photocamp will be
offered from Monday,
June 9 to Friday,
June 13. Each camp
day is from 11:00
a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Drop off
should be between
10:00 a.m. and 11:00
a.m., with pick up
between 4:00 p.m.
and 5:00 p.m.
Each child
should bring a
non-perishable lunch
(we don’t have a big
enough refrigerator)
and a snack.
Water and
Juice will be
provided.
Registration
deadline is Monday,
June 2 with 6
children minimum required
for class.
Photocamp Cost:
Members - $125
(whole week)
and Non-members -
$185 (whole week)
What to Wear:
Casual Clothes (we
could get messy),
closed toe shoes
What to Bring:
Jacket or Sweater
(galleries can be
chilly), bagged,
non-perishable lunch
with child’s name on
it. (Please leave
electronics, toys,
and valuables at
home.
The Florida
Museum of
Photographic Arts
cannot be held
responsible for
items brought to
camp).

Drop off/ Pick up:
Photocamp
is from 11:00 a.m.
to 4:00 p.m.
Children
should be dropped
off between 10:00
a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
and picked up
between 4 p.m. and 5
p.m.
All children
MUST be picked up by
5:00 p.m.
Parents/Guardians or
authorized persons
must sign their
child(ren) in and
out. To pick up your
child, please
park your car
and come inside the
museum.
You will be
required to show a
photo ID before
signing your child
out.
For your child's
protection, we will
release him/her only
to the adults listed
on the Supplemental
Information Form.

Medicine:
The camp counselor
is prohibited from
dispensing
medication.
If your child needs
daily medication
during camp hours,
you must contact the
museum at
813-221-2222 to make
arrangements to give
the medication
yourself before we
can accept his or
her sign-up
paperwork.
Behavior:
Participation in
Photocamp
activity will
be dependant on the
camper's ability to
follow all safety
procedures and to be
respectful of other
campers, staff,
Museum objects, and
the environment.
Please
instruct your
children that
repeated failure to
demonstrate
appropriate behavior
may result in
expulsion from the
program and
forfeiture of fees.

June 10 - Demonstration of the FMoPA room-sized
camera obscura.
Build pinhole
cameras.
Make and
develop images.
June 11 – Look
at different artists
work and discuss new
assignment.
Make a
photo-narrative.
June 12 - Collect homework.
Critique
narratives.
Learn about
artists work with
toy cameras.
Take pictures
with toy cameras.
June 13 – Critique
toy camera images.
Critique homework.
Finish
journals.
