The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts
starts an Agency Endowment and Embarks on a Campaign to Raise $100,000.
FMoPA established an Agency Endowment account in October 2007 with the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay, a national philanthropic organization. The Community Foundation, along with other community development activities, manages endowments for many different agencies in the Tampa Bay area.
Under the endowment agreement and challenge, FMoPA will raise $75,000 within three years and the Community Foundation will contribute $25,000 for a total of $100,000.
FMoPA sees the $100,000 goal as the first stage in a medium term objective to raise $1,000,000 (stage two).
The amount of the endowment is very important because the Community Foundation presently distributes 5% of the yearly average endowment balance to its endowment participants. When the endowment becomes large enough, the yearly distribution can fulfill an important role in funding FMoPA's yearly operating budget.
The beauty of the endowment is that it will continue contributing to FMoPA in perpetuity. If for any reason FMoPA ceases to exist, the endowment would be assumed for the benefit of the Community Foundation and its work in the Tampa Bay
community.
Progress against the endowment goal is reflected in the thermometer at the left. We will update the amount raised monthly.
FMoPA's Trustee Jonathan Lowe leads the endowment campaign with an endowment committee. The committee will organize on going endowment fund raising solicitations.
Checks are to be made out to the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay, as all endowment contributions will be deposited to FMoPA's account with the Community Foundation.
FMoPA and the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay both maintain 501(c)(3) charitable status and all contributions to the endowment are tax deductible.
We hope FMoPA supporters will be highly motivated to contribute.
